Not really wanting to go all the way out to Dorval and spend $300+ and a one week wait period, a guy at work suggested calling the manufacturer for a nearby service center. Now why didn't I think of that?
So, in a last ditch attempt to find a reasonable laptop repair shop, I went to the IBM site to see what they have. Hmmm what's this? They actually had a web page where you can look up your warranty. OK, that's cool now I can see how many days past my warranty it is...you know just for the fun of it. And lo and behold, I actually had a 3-year warranty which expires in 2009! Woohoo!
They also happened to have an Authorized Service centre at the Concordia Computer store, so that was even better! No need to make a trip out to Dorval or anything! More to come...
